Bengaluru: The All India Lawyers Union (AILU), an organization driven by the ideals of Freedom, Justice, Democracy, and Socialism, organized an inspiring program titled “Protect Democracy – Save the Constitution” at Shri K. Venkataraman (Babu) Hall on Sunday. The event served as a clarion call to address the growing challenges to democratic and constitutional principles in India, fostering a collective resolve among legal professionals and civil society members.


The program was inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice H.P. Sandesh, Judge of the Karnataka High Court, who underscored the importance of preserving the Constitution as the bedrock of democracy. In his address, he stated, "A robust democracy thrives on the pillars of justice, equality, and liberty. Protecting our Constitution is not merely a duty; it is our collective responsibility to secure the future of this nation."

Dr. Aditya Sondi, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India, delivered a powerful lecture on "Constitutional Principles of India and Social Justice". Highlighting the intricate relationship between constitutional ideals and social progress, he remarked, "The Constitution of India is a transformative document that envisions equality and justice for all. Its sanctity must be preserved to ensure social harmony and inclusive growth."

The event was chaired by Adv. Harindra, President of AILU's Bangalore District Committee, who emphasized the need for unity among advocates to safeguard democratic values. He said, "Democracy is strengthened when voices from all corners of society come together to resist forces that undermine freedom and justice."

Prominent dignitaries including Adv. S. Shankarappa, Vice President of AILU's National Committee, added to the discussions by addressing the socio-political challenges threatening constitutional values. He highlighted the necessity for lawyers and legal professionals to champion the causes of marginalized communities, stating, "The legal fraternity has a pivotal role in ensuring that justice is accessible to all, regardless of socio-economic status."

Shri B.N. Shiva Reddy, Secretary of the event, extended heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed guests and participants. He reflected on the success of the program, expressing optimism about the collective efforts to uphold the democratic and constitutional framework.
