Bengaluru to Host Multi-Faith Solidarity Meet for Palestine on Human Rights Day

Freedom Park Event Brings Together Faith Leaders to Advocate for Palestinian Rights

On December 10, 2024, Bengaluru for Justice and Peace (BFJP) will organize a unique multi-faith solidarity event titled “Bridging Faiths for Palestine” at Freedom Park, Bengaluru, marking International Human Rights Day. The gathering aims to amplify the voices of solidarity with Palestine amidst ongoing global concerns over human rights violations in Gaza.

Solidarity with Palestine

The event, which begins at 5 PM, will bring together leaders and followers from diverse faiths, including Judaism, Catholic and Protestant Christianity, Shia and Sunni Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Sufism. Each faith group will present prayers and messages of support for the Palestinian people. Performances of revolutionary poetry and songs by youth groups from Bengaluru will also be featured, fostering a spirit of unity and resistance.

Organized by a coalition of over 20 organizations, BFJP has been actively campaigning against what it describes as a “genocidal project” targeting Palestinians. The coalition has been mobilizing efforts through public awareness campaigns, webinars, film screenings, and alliances with national and international solidarity networks.

In alignment with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the principles of the Indian Constitution, the solidarity meet seeks to assert five key demands directed at the Indian government, including cutting all ties with Israel and voting in favor of a permanent ceasefire at international forums.

Aishwarya and Manavi, representatives of BFJP, have urged wide media coverage of the event, emphasizing its importance in fostering global awareness about human rights and justice for Palestine. The event underscores Bengaluru's commitment to upholding civil liberties and promoting peace in the face of oppression.
